And just to give you some background information on myself, before I discovered Proofread Anywhere, I was working as a travel agent. And then COVID hit, and it seemed like the world stopped as far as traveling was concerned, so I needed to find a way to make up for the commissions I was losing. And I stumbled across Proofread Anywhere one day, while I was spending too much time on Facebook. As an English major, I thought this course was perfect, it appealed to my love of reading and writing. And the course was priced very reasonably, so I jumped at the chance to try something new. It was great because I knew I could do it part-time or full-time, and everything was on my own terms.

I felt like this course came at just the right time. I ended up being laid off permanently from my travel agent position, so I was a little nervous about the course at first, but once I passed the vocabulary test, it gave me the confidence to keep going. And the benefits are now I get to stay home with my two children, I can help them with their virtual school lessons during the day, and work on building my proofreading business in the evenings. I don't have to commute, I don't have to buy casual office attire, and I don't have to pay for parking downtown. So all of those things are definitely also extra benefits to this course. And being able to be my own boss is also great because now I'm definitely not going to fire myself. I highly recommend this program. Caitlin does a super job of putting all the practical tools in this kit, as far as practicing, giving you resources to utilize, if you have questions, great support system.

There's a Facebook group with other students and graduates of the course, and everybody just pitches in and helps each other, so that's also a great benefit. She also gives you a lot of tools for helping you find clients and to build relationships with them, so they're not just one-time clients, that you build those relationships, And I'm definitely happy that I chose to dive right in and take the course. Hi, my name's Amanda Cummings. I am a mother of two. I live up here in Fairfield, Montana. It's a little rural community of farmers and ranchers. And I just wanted to share a little bit about my story of when I started transcript proofreading and how my business is going. I started the transcript proofreading course, oh, I think the beginning of 2018, I graduated December, 2019. COVID hit in March of 2020. And so I had to put my marketing and my business startup and stuff on hold because I had to teach my children from home for the rest of the school year. And then I just procrastinated until the fall of 2020. So October, 2020, I finally actually put out ads because I was nervous and scared and you know, it's just, it's scary to do all that stuff.

And so I did that. And then I got a couple inquiries. I heard back from one gal and she's actually -- I still am her full-time proofreader to this day. So I love her. She's sweet. And so I just had her for a little bit and then March, March-ish, it started to really pick up. And then 'cause I picked up jobs from the Huddle for backup proofreader, or there was some people who needed expedite work done and the regular proofreader couldn't fit it into their schedule.

So I picked up a couple of those and then I want to say, May, it got really, really crazy, but that could be -- so I had my children at home. I was trying to juggle work and just actually, since May on, it has been ridiculously crazy. I thought it would take me, you know, like a year or two to, I mean, I thought, "Oh, if I made like 400 bucks a month proofreading, I would, you know, that would be pretty cool.

Well, I've been generating over a thousand dollars a month easy, and it just keeps continuing to grow. I'm very glad that my children are going to school here shortly so that I can work some more because I do get the, "Mom, that's all you do is work," but I did not foresee getting so many clients and so much work this early in the game, you know?

I mean, what is it, a little bit over six months that I've been working. But it's pretty sweet. I'm not gonna lie. And it is a real, legit profession. When I first started it and I was telling my family about it, I think I got the eye roll of, like, freelance proofreader. Like, what is that? What kind of scam is that? Where are you going with that? You know? But um, to this day, I've proven them wrong. And I can thank Caitlin for that. So grateful that I jumped into this, this field. You know, it is just, it's opened a lot of doors for me, and there's nothing more self-satisfying than being your own boss and working for yourself.

I do need to learn how to turn clients down because I struggle telling them no. So I say yes, and then I kind of freak out a little bit, but yeah, so that is kind of my story. I can't even imagine where I'll be in another six months. Like I said, business is booming. There's tons of proofreaders out there; I think they have the similar story as me. And I want to thank you Caitlin, because it is an awesome, awesome profession to get into if you're a word nerd, and I just really appreciate it. And I'm so glad that I decided to take your course. Hey, guys. I want to give you this quick testimonial for Proofread Anywhere. And I'll try and make this as quick and painless as possible, and try and answer some questions and feedback for you. So my name is Tiffany, and I'm from the mountainous, beautiful, colorful state of Colorado. And so that's where this is coming to you from. But if you're investing in yourself, that's always going to be worth the cost that's there.

The course resonating with me or what really hit me more was definitely the mindset shift and that change in how you approach things and just how you empower yourself basically to go after the things you want to go after. And a lot of times, there's tons of stuff out there that says, "The mind is a battlefield," totally and definitely is. So if you can conquer that and if you can be not your worst critic, but your best encourager, I think you're really going to find that you can pretty much do anything, and Proofread Anywhere is no different. So what actions did I take? Mainly, the biggest one was definitely building my own website, which I'm super proud of. Didn't have any web building experience or knowledge or anything like that.

But if you're willing to go find the resources, if you're willing to put in the work, you're definitely going to see the results from that. So life looks like now. I started this side business as well as two other ones. So I think really and truly, that mindset shift was really just the jump starter for me in really believing that it was something I could do and something that I could really tackle and get behind. So huge things there. And in terms of wins, that's one of the biggest things for me. And that was definitely a challenge, too. And would I recommend Proofread Anywhere? Absolutely. Well worth it. Hi, my name's Sarah Larson and I am from Baltimore, Maryland area. And this is my testimonial for Proofread Anywhere. So before I got into Proofread Anywhere, I'll admit, I was a bit confused with what I wanted to do with my life. I'm currently 18 years old, so I've had a lot of different paths and courses that I've thought I wanted to go down, but nothing was really panning out. And I just didn't really know what I wanted to do. I think one of my initial concerns was probably just the price. And that was really, really exciting for me.

I got to proofread, it was a 120,000-word novel, and I absolutely loved it. And it was just, it was perfect for me. And after that point, I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And that's what I want to keep doing. And so since starting my business, my life has definitely looked a lot different. I definitely have a clearer trajectory, I know what I want to do. And so I'm able to use my business and learn more because of it. And so I'm currently in college right now, but mainly for just learning, education, things that are applicable, I'm thinking of getting an associate's or certificate in English, or business, or something like that.

And I want to keep going down this path and because of Proofread Anywhere, it really opened up my eyes to all my many opportunities, and I absolutely love my business, and I've just been able to keep growing it. And I love Proofread Anywhere, it really taught me a lot. And I know that without it, I might've maybe thought about proofreading at some point, but I definitely wouldn't have had the steps to get there that Proofread Anywhere gave to me. Hello, this is Deanna Erny from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am a proofreader. Transcript proofreader and a graduate of Caitlin's program. Little bit of background: I used to be a court reporter, freelance reporter. I had a business partner back in the day. It was actually my second profession, and this was from about 1993 to about 2000.

And then I had four children in four-and-a-half years. And the day I found out that I was pregnant with my fourth, I quit. I didn't even wait to have him. I just quit reporting and basically devoted the next 17 years of my life to my children, to their schools, to my home, husband, fundraising, whatever.

And then they all started to leave me! (laughs) Once they were getting into high school and college, what am I gonna do? I knew I was not gonna go back to reporting; I knew I wouldn't get my speed back up. It's -- reporting is stressful. But I always knew I wanted to proofread. Anything. I can't get through a school bulletin, a church bulletin, a billboard... and don't get me started on newspapers, but I knew that court reporters need proofreaders.

It's a rule -- unless it's a short little transcript, and even then it's never recommended; you never proofread your own work. But how would I proofread when I used to just print out paper and get a red pen and mark it up like you do in iAnnotate. How do you do that? So I started, you know, trying to research how to be a proofreader.

And it's actually kind of funny. I found Caitlin on Pinterest. Caitlin, did you know that you were on Pinterest? Anywhere I Googled, searched, or even with Pinterest, I put in proofreading, your name came up. So I decided to take a chance and take the course. And for me it was worth every penny. It was really more of a refresher for me, but there were things that I learned or I had forgotten about, and it was great. I started this in April 2017 and got my first client. Then I've got five clients now. I work on the weekends. I don't want any more clients. I'm perfectly fine with five. My husband works seven days a week, so for me, a Saturday is no different than a Wednesday.

And so it's fine. I don't work all day long every day. I won't proofread more than 225 to 250 pages a day. Those would be busy days. Today I have 75, and then I'm actually caught up. I usually receive a transcript every day. I -- my reporters don't necessarily send me a lot of expedites.

So you know, it's just my regular turnaround. And, you know, I'm not going to get rich the way I'm doing it. I've chosen my business to be like this. But you're looking -- maybe a couple of the years have been half years. I started mid-year and then with COVID, but I'm looking at maybe 20 to $24,000.

Again, I didn't do this strictly for the money. It is a great backup. Was able to turn my daughter's bedroom into an office with it. That part is great. But it just gives me a sense of productivity for just -- for just me, to get -- keep ya smart. So I love that I can make up my own hours. I get up at 6:30 every morning, say goodbye to my husband, and I work for about an hour and half.

And then it gives me (laughs) time for my new passion! Pickleball! Play every single day that I can. I played this morning, and I'm actually going to play again tonight. And sometimes in between games, I will -- I check my phone constantly to make sure a reporter hasn't emailed me a transcript. And if she has, I just email her back as if I were in my office, saying, "Thank you for the transcript; got it!" And then I go back to playing pickleball. So it's working out great for me. I'm loving life. I'm very appreciative of the program and of Caitlin. I highly recommend it. And how can you not like a business that you can just make up your own hours, right? And you, too, could be addicted to pickleball! (laughs)

Hi, my name is Georgina. I live in New Hampshire. I did my proofreading course from Caitlin's Proofread Anywhere. I came across this course a year back, and I did this from November then I took some time and I was able to complete only in July.

Really, it had turned my life over. It brought about a limelight of many words that I hadn't discovered before and I was able to venture into the world of marketing and how that we can really put up effort and to know about how that we can meet clients and help them to proofread with regard to all sorts of text that they bring up to us.

Hi, my name is Audrey, and I'm from Ohio. So before Proofread Anywhere, my life was pretty standard. I work -- I still work a 9-to-5, come home, take care of my kids. You know, putt around the house. We do our activities on the weekends. And I was getting kind of tired of that. I get tired of working for somebody else.

So I was looking up many ways to make money from home, and I came across Proofread Anywhere and I thought, huh, this might be a good fit for me because I love reading and helping people. And I could get paid to read books and find the errors.

Before I enrolled in the course, I was concerned about the cost of the course and I followed Caitlin for several months. I did the -- there was a free five-day email course I took to see if it would be a good fit for me. And I actually decided to finally take the plunge. Caitlin had sent out an email about -- I forget exactly what it was, but basically she was willing to like back up her course, I think it was she was offering some sort of coupon and I was like, you know what, this is my chance; I'm gonna do it.

Hello. My name is Marilyn Safier. I live in North Bend, Oregon, and I'm 78 years old. I recently passed the exam for Proofread Anywhere, and I'm very proud of that.

Before I took this class, I was really struggling financially because my expenses have really increased over the years, the last few years, as I became more disabled. I was looking for some kind of work I could do that didn't require physicality, driving or being sitting in a chair for long periods of time.

I saw Proofread Anywhere on Facebook. And I took the introductory class and I thought, "This is made for me, tailor-made for me." I love words. I love reading. I'm very good with detail, because I had many years as a medical technologist, where you had to follow things very detailed or somebody might die, especially my last job.

I just graduated, so I haven't had any clients yet. I haven't made any money yet. My biggest fear when I started the class was, oh my God, I'm going to put all this money on my credit card, and am I going to be able to make any money? Will people hire me, because I'm too old? To give you a little bit of background about myself first, I live in Northeast, Mississippi. I have a degree in theater and I've worked in a few places like Disney World, Busch Gardens, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. I currently work in a more office-like environment.

Hi. My name is Bethany, and I live in Indiana. I am a mom of two young boys. Since becoming a mom, I found staying at home with my children to be a challenge. I wanted something I could do for my personal development and enjoyment, as well as bring in extra income.

When I first learned about Proofread Anywhere, I was searching the internet for jobs that could be done from home. When I found the course, I thought to myself, "This is actually something that I could do." I've always been a bit of a word nerd, I love to read, I love to write, those kinds of things. So, I felt like this would be a good fit.

Before enrolling in the course, I was concerned about failing. What if it wasn't the right fit for me? Or what if I don't finish? What if I don't pass the course? But I realized that it was worth a shot to try, especially for the price of the course itself.

My favorite part of the course has to be the beginning, modules one or two, where it talks about mindset. I loved learning about how mindset, awareness, and attitude all play a part in my success. I also loved the money mindset section. I even had my husband listen to it with me.

Taking this course has been really helpful because it's given me a starting point. I can get caught in analysis paralysis sometimes, and so I really appreciated the step by step guide in refining skills, building a website, looking for clients, things like that.

My life has actually taken an interesting turn since completing the Proofread Anywhere course. While I still practice proofreading and do a small job from time to time, I started working part-time outside my home, though that was not my original plan. I do believe that Proofread Anywhere has helped me gain confidence in my ability to hold a job while raising a family. Again, I think that it comes back to that mindset thing, as well as just practicing taking action, which is something that I have really been working on in my life.

I think my biggest win of all, like I alluded to before, is it has to do more with my mentality than anything else. This course has helped me validate my strengths. I thought my attention to details and being nitpicky about typos and grammatical errors was a weakness. Now I'm learning to accept this part of me as a strength. Who knew could actually make money doing something like this?
